Greek Coins; Bactria. Diodotus II ? as King 256-239 BC, Gold Stater 8.17 g. 17.2 mm. die-axis 6 o'clock.

Obverse: Bust of Diodotus II ? (young face) right, wearing taenia, surrounded by a border of dots.

Reverse: Zeus standing left, with agis draped over left arm, and hurling thunderbolt, on ground line. Greek legen: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΔIOΔOTOY Of the King Diodotus. An eagle standing left at his feet, wreath above.

          The coin is die-identical with the specimen in the collection of the British Museum, London, England, (1879,0401.5). American Numismatic Society, New York, U.S.A. (1944.100.74365), (1980.109.108).

          There are several variations of this type, because of different dies.
